Next week is another exciting week at Southwark as we have another theme week!
It is RE week and Year 2 will be learning all about Sikhism. We will be looking at Sikh stories and finding out about where Sikhs go to worship and what they believe in. We will also be looking at different Sikh festivals and comparing them to how we celebrate events which are special to us!

This week is Science week and the children in 2SC have been learning about electricity and forces.
They have identified sources of electricity and have tried to create their own circuits. The children have looked at examples of push and pull forces and have explored gravity and friction.

As part of our Geography topic we have been learning about the local area. We have had to go on walks around the local area to observe the many features of Basford.
We also looked at the different types of housing and compared the older Victorian buildings to the new homes that have been built in the area.

Year 2 Visit to St. Aidan’s Church on PhotoPeach
This week at Southwark we are having an RE Theme Week. Each year group is focusing on a different religion. In Year 2 we are learning about Christian stories. So far this week we have looked at the story of Creation, the story of Daniel and the Lions, David and Goliath and the story of Noah’s ark.
Tomorrow, Year 2 will be visiting a local church to find out about where Christians go to pray and we will be looking at all the different features found in a Church.

This half term we are learning all about the 4 seasons. We are exploring this topic through art. The children have found out about the 4 seasons and have thought about ways to describe the seasons. They then created their own pieces of artwork showing their impressions of the seasons.

Today we were back at school after the Christmas holidays. The children have been sharing all their exciting news about the holidays and found out about their new topic this half term.
